A couple of weeks ago a group of local newspapers in Savage, Shakopee, Prior Lake, Jordan, Chaska, Chanhassen, Hutchinson and Litchfield announced they would be shutting down at the end of this month.

There was one day of mourning before attempts by the Minnesota School Board Association were initiated to disassemble the wheels of democracy for citizens in these areas and possibly beyond. They are seeking legislation to bypass the state law that requires schools to publish notices in a newspaper.
